Sweet Dream Guatemama espresso – this single-estate coffee lot from the Huehuetenango region, carefully cultivated by Jorge Diaz, promises an unforgettable coffee experience. It’s not just coffee; it’s a taste of Guatemala’s finest, crafted with passion and dedication by Jorge Diaz and his family.

Nestled in the western part of Guatemala, the Huehuetenango region, or Huehue as locals call it, is a land of rugged beauty. It’s remote, with roads that wind through high mountains and connect Guatemala with Mexico, where trade thrives. The altitude, combined with hot, dry winds from the Tehuantepec plain of Mexico, creates the perfect environment for quality coffee.

Jorge Diaz, a fourth-generation coffee producer, tends to the La Union farm, established by his great-grandparents. Over the years, the farm has expanded from half a hectare to 12.7 hectares, located near the Pacific Ocean. La Union’s clay-based soil strengthens coffee trees’ roots, yielding over 20,750 kg of green coffee annually. Jorge oversees every aspect of the farm’s operations, ensuring the highest quality beans.

The Sweet Dream Guatemama espresso is a blend of two varieties – Caturra and Typica. Caturra, a mutation of the Bourbon variety, is cherished for its small-sized crops and high yield. Its delicate taste profile with bright acidity makes it a favorite among farmers. Typica, originating from Ethiopia, is the foundation of today’s arabica coffee. Known for its sweetness and balanced flavor, it thrives in higher altitudes and cooler temperatures.

When coffee beans are ripe for harvest, they’re handpicked in the late afternoon at La Union farm. The pulp is swiftly removed, and the beans are left to ferment for 15 hours in water tanks to enhance flavor. Afterward, they’re washed and sun-dried for several days on the patio. The result is a meticulously crafted coffee, ready to be enjoyed by coffee enthusiasts worldwide.
